Planet+ Competition Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to teams that register for the Planet+ Competition, which is run by Planet Plus Limited ("Planet+," "we," "us"). The person who pays the initial team fee agrees to these terms on the team's behalf by paying. Our [Privacy Policy] explains how we handle personal information.

1. Eligibility and teams

• The Competition is open to students currently enrolled in high school or an undergraduate program.

• Teams have 6 to 10 students.

• High School Division: All team members attend the same institution. Each team has a designated teacher mentor.

• Undergraduate Division: Team members may attend the same institution or different institutions. A faculty mentor is not required.

• Each team names a lead contact. The lead contact receives Competition communications and shares them with the team.

• Teams must tell us about any change to their membership. Changes require our approval.

2. Applications and registration

• Each team submits one application by October 31, 2026. We aim to notify teams of their status within about 72 hours. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance.

• A team's registration is complete only once we receive the initial team fee. Teams get access to Competition materials after payment is confirmed.

3. Fees

• Initial team fee: $1,500 USD per team. This covers Phases 1 and 2, which run from November 2026 to early January 2027. It includes Competition materials and two rounds of expert evaluation and feedback.

• Advancement fee: $3,000 USD per team. Teams that advance to the in-person final in Singapore, held March 4–7, 2027, pay this fee. It covers participation for up to six students, including materials, final-stage evaluation and feedback, venue access, and meals provided during the Competition.

• Additional students: $500 USD each. This applies to each student beyond six who attends the Singapore final.

• The fees do not include travel to and from Singapore, accommodation, visas, insurance, or other personal expenses. Teams, their members, or their schools are responsible for these costs.

• All fees are in US dollars. Payers are responsible for any currency conversion or bank fees.

4. Refunds and cancellation

• The initial team fee is non-refundable once paid. This includes cases where a team withdraws, a member leaves, the team is disqualified, or the team does not advance.

• We will tell advancing teams the payment deadline and refund terms for the advancement fee before it is due.

• If Planet+ cancels the Competition before Phases 1 and 2 are complete, we will refund the initial team fee.

• If Planet+ cancels the Singapore final, we will refund any advancement fees paid. If we move the final to a different date or to an online format, we will notify teams promptly. Teams that choose not to take part will receive a refund of their advancement fees.

• We do not reimburse travel, accommodation, or other costs teams incur, including when an event changes or is cancelled. We recommend travel insurance.

5. Team responsibilities and conduct

• Submitted work must be the team's own, with sources credited. Teams must follow any rules we publish on collaboration, outside help, and the use of AI tools.

• Participants treat each other, mentors, judges, staff, and partners with respect, online and in person.

• We may disqualify a team or remove a participant for any of the following, and fees are not refunded in these cases:

  • plagiarism or misrepresentation

  • harassment or other serious misconduct

  • breaking these terms or published event rules

• Participants attending in person must follow venue rules and any event rules we publish.

• A parent or guardian of each participant under 18 who attends in person must complete a consent form before the event.

6. Teacher mentors

High School Division mentors agree to support their team during Phases 1 and 2. This means helping students stay on track, giving general guidance when needed, and serving as the point of contact between the team and Planet+.

7. Judging and advancement

Expert judges evaluate submissions using criteria we set. Planet+ decides which teams advance based on the judges' evaluations, and we decide how many teams advance. Judging decisions are final.

8. Ownership and use of work

• Teams keep ownership of their work.

• By submitting work, a team allows Planet+ to use it to run the Competition. This includes sharing it with judges, academic partners, and program staff for evaluation and feedback.

• We will ask before publishing a team's work, for example before featuring finalist submissions on our website or in reports.

• Case materials and other Planet+ materials remain the property of Planet+. They are for use in the Competition only and may not be shared or published elsewhere.

9. Photos and recordings

We may photograph or record Competition activities. We ask for consent before using identifiable images of participants for promotion, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to the program

We may adjust the schedule, format, materials, or judging panel. We will tell teams about significant changes as early as we can.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows:

• Planet+ is not responsible for loss or damage arising from travel, accommodation, third-party venues, or participants' personal property.

• Our total liability to a team is limited to the fees that team paid.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The terms in effect when a fee is paid apply to that fee.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, and the courts of Hong Kong have jurisdiction over any dispute.
